Nose in a Book Tuesday - This One's for the Kids!

I have two children: my son Scott is 4 and my daughter Allison turns 3 in January. They both LOVE books, and I'm always on the lookout for a good deal on children's books.

I went shopping at Kohl's a few days ago and found a great deal on books that I wanted to pass along. They have a program called Kohl's Cares for Kids, which they fund by selling children's books and related plush toys for $5 each, with 100% of the net profit on these items pledged to support children's health and education incentives nationwide.

Anyway, the books and plush they are selling this season are from the "If You Give..." series, and features the Cat, Moose, Pig, and Mouse from the series, with their accompanying books. We love the two books we already own (If You Give a Mouse a Cookie and If You Give a Pig a Pancake) and I just couldn't resist picking up another book--If You Give a Cat a Cupcake.
If You Give a Cat a Cupcake by Laura Numeroff is one of several books with a similar theme, and they all start with, "if you give a [mouse/cat/moose/pig/etc.] a [cookie/cupcake/muffin/pancake/etc.]..." The story is adorable. It tells the story of the fun adventures that could follow if you give a cat a cupcake, taking the reader to the beach, the science museum, the park, and more. Illustrated by Felicia Bond, the book is colorful and exciting--my daughter was captivated. I think this one is my favorite of the series that we have read so far.

It's not too early to start thinking about Christmas gifts (stores are already putting out their Christmas stuff!), so if you have a child in your life that you think would really enjoy a fun picture book and the plush animal that matches the story, take a trip to Kohl's for this great deal and help support the Kohl's Cares for Kids program at the same time. I think I will probably not be able to resist going again and buying another book before Christmas. I know several children who will probably love getting a new book for Christmas.Photobucket

So, until next week, many blessings to you and yours!

Katy
